The American Psychiatric Association changed the term autism to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in 2013.
ASD is now an umbrella term that covers the different levels of autism: Autism, Asperger syndrome, Pervasive developmental disorder — not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS).
